Don't fall for this stuff.
I usually look for something to take when we spend Christmas with my sister. Something that her husband and I can snort on after the kids go to bed. This year I chose this.
This: Yet another bourbon mixed with honey, cinnamon, maple, caramel, marshmallows, or cherries. There are dozens of them, but I had not seen this one before.
I bought it.
When I got home and took a closer look, I see that it's 30 proof. WTF? That's the strength of wine. Wine comes in 750ml bottles as this does. I just bought a $20 bottle of wine. There are only five drinks in this bottle.
Sure, sure, it said "cider" on it, but it was at the liquor store right next to all the other Jack Daniel's bottles.
I fell for it.

Speaking of things we would normally not touch, has anybody tried the cinnamon bourbons that are out now, and are any worth a try? I tend toward single malt Scotch but 'tis the season.

Considering how well even something cheap along those lines (Fireball) turned out, I imagine anything pricier would work out really well. But, then again, if you're drinking something profaned, might you be just as well off with the cheap stuff? I mean, Fireball is cheap and is enough to make a connoisseur shoot himself, but *as a drink* that just happens to be alcoholic, it's not awful. I'd drink it a thousand times more readily than Kraken.

I'm no whiskey snob and have had Fireball many times, including mixed in eggnog which is not bad at all. I was thinking that maybe the cinnamon bourbon would be a notch better? Or not.

Cinnamon bourbon is probably better by default, it's just uncertain whether it'd be enough better than Fireball to justify the price.

That's actually what I'm taking. I had a jar of that when my father in law was visting over Thanksgiving, and we only had a drink each out of it. That shit is dangerous.
On the brighter side, it also tastes like apple pie coming up.

Next time, just buy a bottle of Evan Williams (mixing decent whiskey is a crime), and mix with a few shakes of your choice of bitters, a splash of apple cider, and a splash of good ginger beer or ale. It'll be cheaper and better.
Or just get good whiskey and put it in a glass. Ice cube optional.

I prefer my Whiskey and Bourbon spirits neat, mellow, and devoid of added flavors and or other such nonsense...
Gentleman Jack, Single Barrel Jim Beam, Bulleit, Makers Mark, Blantons, JW Black and Double Black... All of it perfect right out of the bottle.
